preschool

From August – May (following Pittsburg School District’s schedule), we provide exceptional, affordable preschool with nationally accredited programing and state-licensed staff.
  • Available for children ages 3 to Kindergarten. 
  • Sessions are Monday - Friday (closed holidays), 8 a.m. – 11 a.m., and noon – 3 p.m. 
  • Each March, we begin enrolling for the upcoming school year. Children also can start anytime August – May, if spaces are available.

GRANT-FUNDED OPTIONS AND PARENT-PAY FEEs
Our preschool programs are mostly grant-funded, so many families qualify for FREE preschool if they live within USD 250 Pittsburg school district boundaries and meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Income qualifies for participation in the federal free or reduced lunch plan.
  • Custodial parent is single (unmarried) at time of enrollment.
  • Child in foster care, custodial grandparents/kinship care, or out-of-home placement.
  • Referral from Department of Children and Families (DCF).
  • Have a parent that was a teen at the time of the child’s birth.
  • Have a parent lacking a high school diploma or GED.
  • Child is developmentally or academically delayed, based on assessments.
  • Child qualifies for migrant status.
  • Child is experiencing homelessness.
  • Child lacks health insurance.

​For families that don’t meet the criteria above, fees are as follows:
  • Preschool only: $245 / month 
  • Preschool + child care: $200 / week ($800/ month) 
What’s included
  • We use research-based child development programming, including Frog Street Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, and Creative Curriculum. These age-appropriate materials and activities focus on academic, social, emotional, and physical development so children are ready to learn!
  • We offer hands-on learning through activities and play.
  • We provide free developmental screenings, and free developmental services to children who qualify.
Application process
​Please follow all steps below to enroll your child. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Tasha McCoy, 620-235-3150.

1. Complete appropriate forms.
Please download, print, and complete the Child Care Application (even if you don’t currently need care) and the appropriate Preschool application. If you don’t have access to a printer, you may pick up forms at either of our locations.

2. Provide completed forms and Application Fee to The Center.
If you want child care as well as preschool, you must submit a one-time, non-refundable $20 Application Fee per child. That fee will cover all current or future services for the child. Options to submit the form and fee:
  • Mail or drop off (6:30 a.m. -  6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, excluding holidays): Send form and $20 check (do not send cash) to:

  • You may also email the form to Tasha McCoy or fax to 620-235-3154. If you do, you will still need to mail or drop off the $20 check (do not send cash). 
3. If your needs change, please call us at 620-235-3150. 
That may help us begin your child care more quickly. 

Once we process your documents, we will reach out to discuss next steps. If no child care slots are available, we’ll place your child on a waitlist and notify you as soon as a slot opens.
