Childcare

We provide exceptional child care year-round for children ages 0-5, and for children in elementary school during the summer and on days that USD 250 has off, including snow days. Meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snack, are included in your tuition.

Waiting list​
If you would like your child to attend The Center, please know that there is a waiting list for most ages. We do accept applications and the waiting list does move. Call us and check on your status at any time, and let us know if your needs change — that may help us get you in more quickly. Children are grouped by ages and placed on the waiting list based on their application date. The list moves based on our current enrollment (for example, children moving up due to age, or children moving).
 
To be placed on our waiting list, please download the appropriate form from our "Forms" page. After completing the form and attaching a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $20, mail it to The Center at 1600 N. Walnut, Pittsburg, KS 66762, or drop it off between 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Scheduling options

We provide several scheduling options for diverse family needs. All of our schedules are billed on contracted hours, or the set schedule you provide us when you begin child care at The Center. You pay for the hours whether you use them or not — in other words, you are buying a slot of time. We hold that slot for you and always have it staffed.

Full-time care means you have a contracted schedule of 25 hours or more per week. Part-time care means you have a contracted schedule that is 24 hours per week or less. Drop in care is a third option, and means we serve as your back-up child care provider.

Drop in care

We provide drop-in care based on availability. First, please register with us for that option. Then, call us if you need a back-up because your regular child care provider is sick, or when you don't regularly use child care but need a few hours of coverage. If space is available because another child is sick, gone on vacation, or out for some reason, we'll fit you in.
